TRAINING AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH

There are three necessary steps to getting started in the IACUC: IACUC Online Training, Occupational Health Enrollment, and training on the electronic IACUC system, eIACUC.

  1. IACUC ONLINE TRAINING
All training modules must be completed by EACH individual listed on an Animal Study Protocol (ASP) or an addendum prior to the document being submitted to the IACUC.

    1. Contact Bruce Roberts at 312-503-9339 or 312-503-2618 or by e-mail at b-roberts@northwestern.edu. Provide the spelling of your name and he will assign a Username and Password. You will then have a Northwestern University account with AALAS Learning Library, which you will need in order to take classes. Use Firefox or Chrome when accessing AALAS Learning Library.
    2. Log onto the site at www.aalaslearninglibrary.org, click on the downward arrow under your first name in the upper right corner and update your personal information contained in “My Profile”. You must enter your Northwestern University NetID. This is essential for the transfer of you transcripts to our record system. You may update your profile at any time.
    3. To take classes, click on “Tracks.” This page contains tracks of courses for Northwestern University animal users. The tracks contain required courses for each species as well as recommended courses.
  2. OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SAFETY PROGRAM (OHSP)
All individuals listed on an ASP must initiate the OHSP process prior to IACUC submission. This process may occur concurrently with the IACUC review and approval process. However, official approval will not be granted unless enrollment requirements are met.
OHSP clearance must be renewed every three years.
To enroll in OHSP please complete and submit the required medical questionnaire and enrollment request form. An annual TB test is required for any individual working with nonhuman primates.Two-Step Submission Process for Chicago and Evanston OHSP:FOR CHICAGO CAMPUS PERSONNEL
